Ted Dorr has been tweeting about delicious pizza for almost 2 years. Ted and his wife Cyndi are the owners and founders of two Double D’s Sourdough Pizza restaurants in Colorado. He has a vision for many more restaurants and Twitter is helping him bring people in the door. He has over 2,600 Twitter followers @DDPizza. Here are some of the things Ted is doing right with Twitter.

1. Talking with others. He has been great at talking with his customers and other Tweeple. Don’t make it a one way conversation.

2. Not just tweeting out specials. He doesn’t do a lot of discounting – this pizza is delicious and high quality. If you want cheap, go get yourself a Red Barron. He tweets out interesting pictures on behind-the-scenes activities and blogs about how their pizza is different than all the rest.

3. He hosted a Tweet-up. He used Twitter to help connect the community and find new local followers.

4. He advertises his Twitter handle well. He has a tv with the Twitter stream up and puts his Twitter info in all his e-mail signatures. Nice!

Watch our video – he is a hoot!

I had the privilege of chatting with Sabrina Risley of Behind the Moon, Inc.. She has a fantastic networking group in Denver and she is using Social Media to get people to her events. How does she do it? She is encouraging connection to her personal page (I know some of you don’t want to go there but it can work, people!) and to the Fan Page. From there she invites people to events and updates her page regularly with relevant information that helps people with their networking skills.

She’s also using Ping.fm to update her Twitter account and Facebook to make things easier. And she put her Facebook link into her e-mail signature. She’s so smart! We had a great time talking so take a look at our interview.

If you don’t know the Fabulous Sandy Grason then you don’t know what Mojo you are missing! She is fantastic! But more importantly she is using Social Media right. She views Twitter as a big cocktail party, not a place to sell sell sell. That’s not what it’s for, people! She also calls her teleseminars a “virtual” cocktail party too, which is why I love her She will be releasing her Fabulous Formula 2.0 (even more fabulousness) very shortly so stay tuned for that!

Let’s see what she’s doing right with Social Media:

Twitter: Connecting with people. Sandy has a very large e-mail list of people who have opted in to get her Hot Mojo lifestyle tips. Twitter is where she says hello, finds out how people are doing, and retweets things that are important to them. She’s a giver. Sure, she tweets out links to her blog posts but it’s so much more than that.

Video: Take one look at her blog and you will see that almost every entry has some video in there. You feel like you know her after reading a couple posts. She blings her video up with fancy music and lovely editing but you don’t have to start there. Windows Movie Maker is free and is most likely already on your computer. It is not hard to edit videos and put them up on YouTube. Then you can embed them into your posts.

She also continues to build her e-mail list with great free content. Not exactly Social Media but e-mail isn’t dead, contrary to popular belief. Offer some good free content and build your e-mail list.

Make sure you check out her site at www.SandyGrason.com and watch our interview – because we had fun!

I sat down with Michelle Cross who has had great success creating Facebook Events for The Journey. The Journey offers a number of products and workshops based on the work of Brandon Bays. The work is a mind-body healing technique working at the cellular level.

Michelle recently had an impromptu workshop and only had 2 weeks to prepare. They didn’t have time for the press releases and advertisements that they normally do. So what did Michelle do to get over 80 people to the event? She used Facebook. It’s a powerful tool, people. Let’s examine what Michelle did right.

1. She created a Facebook Group: The Journey – Official USA Group and it’s currently at 366 members.

2. She created an Event and invited all the members to the event.

3. She encouraged people to share the event with others and even sent special e-mails to personally ask people to invite everyone they could through Facebook.

4. She also sent the invitation to the e-mail list but most people RSVP’d through Facebook.

It’s also worth noting that they didn’t use Twitter – they don’t even have a Twitter account. You don’t have to tweet if you don’t want to! I keep telling you that. Check out the video for more on how Facebook Events has helped The Journey.

We sat down with John Lynch of Cripple Creek Barbeque and found out what he is doing right in Social Media. John has been a professional chef for the last 8 years. He has been making his own barbeque sauce and finally his friends and family convinced him that he needed to bottle it.

He started his company mid-2009 and knew that Social Media would be a big part of his strategy. He started using Facebook www.Facebook.com/CrippleCreekBBQ and had success there but has recently had more success with Twitter www.Twitter.com/CrippleCreekBBQ. Currently he’s selling his sauce in stores but about 90% of his sales are coming from Social Media.

How is he doing this and what is he doing right?

Nice Website. Social Media increases the traffic to your website. Then it’s the job of your website to sell your product. His website is clean and easy to navigate.

Interacting. John is tweeting often and updating his Facebook page daily. If you look at his tweets, he hardly plugs his product. He is having conversations, connecting and retweeting. His Facebook updates draw comments. He had a video on banana bread. Is that related to BBQ? No but it was valuable information. He is providing value.

Twitter avatar is his photo. People want to know who they are tweeting with – who is behind the brand.

Great product. Social Media will only get you so far. He has raving fans because his product is delicious.

Measuring. He knows that he is getting value from Social Media because he sees the traffic coming in with analytics.

Found out that the spice rub, while good for meat, doesn’t do much for bunions. Watch the video and check out his site! Leave a comment.
